2025 Request for Proposals
2025 Request for Proposals
Harrison Avian Research and Conservation Collaborative (HARCC) was organized as a non-profit corporation in 2022. HARCC is committed to defining and solving challenges relevant to avian clinicians through research and conservation funding, and to supporting an environment that encourages new ideas and approaches to avian research that drive advances in avian care.
HARCC is pleased to announce its Request for Proposals (RFP) for 2025. Proposals are invited on groundbreaking avian medical topics, including but not limited to: diagnostics, therapies, surgical methods and support, nutrition, and behavior. Proposals should aim to advance daily clinical practice or provide deeper insight into these areas of avian research.
Funding Details
The funds can be used for the following purposes to support HARCC’s mission:
to initiate an appropriate research project that has immediate relevance to a practicing avian clinician
to extend an existing research trial
or other research related activities
HARCC will allocate up to $100,000 in total grant funding for 2025, with anticipated individual project budgets up to $20,000 for one-year projects. Indirect costs are not covered. Proposals will be accepted on a rolling basis, as there is no fixed deadline. Funding decisions will be made shortly after evaluation by Review Committee members.
HARCC particularly values projects that demonstrate immediate relevance to practicing avian clinicians or contribute to broader conservation goals. Grants will be awarded based on the potential impact of the proposed work, degree of collaboration and innovation, and likelihood of success.

Evaluation Criteria:

Scientific merit:
Background, hypotheses and/or objectives, study design, materials, and methods.

Impact and relevance:
Alignment with HARCC’s mission, expected benefit to target species.

Feasibility:
Staffing, facilities, attainability of objectives, preliminary data (if applicable).

Budget:
Appropriate expenses, adequate justification.

Timeline:
Readiness for publication or dissemination.

Technical writing:
Clarity and grammar.
Proposal Submission Guidelines
The Principal Investigator (PI) must be actively involved in avian research on the specified topics at or affiliated with an accredited research facility, following all Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) guidelines.
