HARCC invites your participation in determining what projects are needed by avian clinicians

Our Mission and Objectives

Harrison Avian Research and Conservation Collaborative (HARCC) is committed to defining and solving challenges relevant to avian clinicians through research and conservation funding.

To support an environment that encourages new ideas and new approaches to avian research that drive advances in avian care.

To communicate the results of HARCC’s research projects, first through respected scientific publications, then broadly to veterinarians through international social media platforms.

To be willing to carefully consider novel, well described, clinically relevant projects that may not fit more traditional criteria for funding.

To be mindful of our carbon footprint in awarding grants.

To select projects with results that directly impact the practitioner who needs dependable knowledge and scientific-based guidance in addressing his avian patients.

Association of Avian Veterinarians Conference and Expo

Rev. Dr. LoraKim Joyner presents a motivating and inspirational keynote address to the Association of Avian Veterinarians Annual Conference, June 2024. The keynote address was sponsored by the Harrison Avian Research & Conservation Collaborative: HARCC, and by the Avian and Wildlife Laboratory, University of Miami. Through stories gathered from working with the people and parrots of the Americas as a conservationist and wildlife veterinarian for over 37 years, LoraKim helps us understand the concepts of “No One is Free Until All are Free,” and “Unconditional Solidarity,” and the need to Stop the Parrot Trade, Stop the Demand for Parrots, and to have No More Birds in Cages.

You can read more about the conference on her blog here

In addition to HARCC sponsoring Rev. Dr. LoraKim Joyner’s keynote address at ExoticsCon, HARCC also donated $15,000 to her non-profit organization, One Earth Conservation, to aid in their conservation efforts of macaws in Honduras.
